What characteristics should  the exterior wall paint have? The exterior wall paint is used for painting outside the building.  Wall surface , so an important  indicator is anti-ultraviolet radiation, which requires long-term exposure  without discoloration. Exterior wall coatings are also required to have water resistance and are self-cleaning .  The paint film should be hard and flat, and the dirt will fall off.   Exterior wall paint can be used for interior wall painting because it also has water resistance; while interior wall paint does not have anti-sun function,  so interior wall paint cannot be used as exterior wall paint.

In general, exterior paints pay more attention to the following attributes:

Elastic crack resistance: In order to level the building, the thick mortar is usually applied, and there are many points for repairing.  These mortars may be cracked due to the stress generated by the cement curing process or due to the cold and hot weather. In addition,  the old wall may cause wall cracks due  to  loose structure.  If the coating does not have the ability to resist cracking, it will cause cracking and lose the protection and aesthetics of the wall .

2, long-lasting color: exterior paint is exposed to the sun and rain, the continuity of the coating color is severely tested,  the energy of ultraviolet light can usually make some pigments degenerate and fade. Therefore, long-lasting paints are popular.

3. Breathability: Like interior paints, exterior paints must also have breathability, which is even higher than interior paints .

4, water resistance: a must-have function of paints and other exterior wall decoration materials: waterproof, coatings that do not have water resistance will soon lose their waterproof ability.

5, anti-freeze and thaw: This is very important in the cold regions of the north, the freeze-thaw cycle will cause the coating to crack and affect various performance indicators.

6, anti-pollution: air pollution is getting more and more serious, the surface of the exposed paint will quickly become dirty. It is an urgent need to develop functional coatings that are static-free, non-sticky, and that are dense and non-dusting.

7. strong adhesion: requires strong adhesion, otherwise the coating will fall off or cracked due to various weather or structural changes in the building.

8. Covering power: The outer wall is very light, and the base wall is generally darker in color. The poorly covered paint can not cover the underlying color and will affect the appearance. Generally speaking, the high refractive index rutile titanium dioxide is a good choice.

9. Durability:  The amount of external wall engineering is very large. If the durability of the coating is poor , the frequency of refurbishment will be high , and the cost will rise linearly and will affect the living and office. The use of durable high-grade resin emulsions as a base coating base is essential.
